A mission statement is a statement of purpose and serves as a brief explanation of an organization's reason for existing, core purpose, and main focus.
Hoosier Interfaith Power & Light mission statement: Bringing Hoosiers of faith together as stewards of creation in order to promote renewable energy, energy conversation and efficiency, as a faith response to climate change.
When H-IPL began in 2011, our leaders named seven values that guide would our work. We find these values personally invigorating and return to them often when considering our own actions and those we encourage within H-IPL’s growing network. We hope you will find them encouraging as well:
Hoosier Interfaith Power & Light Interfaith Values
Inclusivity: We welcome and respect persons of all faiths and beliefs.
Tenacity: We know this work will take passion and sustained commitment.
Faith/Caring for the Earth: We are guided by a belief that we have a moral imperative (or responsibility) to care for the earth.
Integrity: We are open, honest and principled in all our communications and interactions.
Cooperation: We collaborate, listen, share, encourage, and support each other.
Urgency: We recognize that the hour is late and we must make significant changes in actions and policy in a very short time.
Clarity of Focus: While appreciating that people of faith can be engaged in many ways to find solutions to this problem, we are clear that our focus is to pursue our mission.
