AEP-Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) wants all its customers to pay them $263 million more per year -- this translates to a 27% increase for the average customer or $357 more out of your pocket annually. This could cost congregations thousands of dollars more a year for electricity.

But this is not a done deal. This rate hike is only a proposal, and that means we can stop it and protect your household budget. As a customer, you have the right to contest this increase by sending a clear message to the Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC).

Under I&M's proposal, the current monthly fixed charge all customers must pay will more than double from $7.30 to $18 per month.

I&M’s proposed rate hike comes straight from the utility playbook being used across the country to ensure company profits while making energy savings and rooftop solar power less economical and less valuable to the customer. The only thing this proposal does is guarantee high profits for I&M and higher bills for I&M households.

This is your chance to send a clear message to the OUCC -- tell them to oppose customers paying more for I&M’s bad business decisions.
