Indiana Forests and Logging: Protecting Indiana Forests

Sandra Messner, Outreach Director for the Indiana Forest Alliance (IFA) will discuss newest science research discussing how trees in a forest communicate and share resources. She will give an update on the health of Indiana’s state forests. The mission of the IFA is to protect and restore Indiana's native hardwood forests through science-based advocacy.

Kokomo Creation Care, an affiliate of Hoosier Interfaith Power and Light, will be hosting a meeting informing us of the effect of climate change on our state forests on Thursday, February 8th, at Christ Lutheran Church in Kokomo.

Ms. Messner will explain the work done by the alliance. Logging and climate change are just two processes affecting state forests she will be focusing on.   Our forests are areas for wilderness recreation and ecotourism, habitat for amazing biodiversity, serve to mitigate climate change by sequestering carbon as well as places of solace and beauty. She will inform us about how we can get involved in protecting our state's forests for present and future generations.

The meeting will take place at Christ Lutheran Church at 7 pm.
