In stunning robes, turban, and a yarmulke, senior clergy from eighteen Hoosier faith traditions processed into the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Indianapolis to convey in many voices a single message: As stewards of God’s creation, it is our sacred obligation to care for this fragile Earth, which is under siege. Some two hundred Hoosiers of faith from twenty-nine cities across Indiana responded in unison: All creation is a song of praise to God.(Herald Times, March 12th 2011)
BLOOMINGTON - From the keynotes by the president of national Interfaith Power and Light and the chair of Hoosier Interfaith Power and Light to the presentations of Hoosier IPL’s programs to the final worship service, the launch was truly exciting. Clergy and scientists, such as IU Physicist emeritus Dr. Ben Brabson and Rev. Dennis Shock of Carmel, paired up to explain why Hoosiers of faith must act – and how they can. Members of congregations from across the state left with Task of the Month Toolkits – which equip congregations and their members to significantly reduce their energy use. Now begins our work together to reduce household carbon emissions across the state.
